Well, I can finally post to this forum as an owner, since as of today, I got my first 45/70. It's a primo 1895GS that has never been fired and is a 2003 (I assume, serial number 936XXXX?). I have been looking in these parts for a couple of years, and in SC, they ain't real plentiful. Anyway, my buddy had this one and he bought it for hogs, but relied on another Marlin to do the dirty work, and so never shot this one. I am so pleased with this new beast! It shall look like a king next to the 30-30, the 35, the 375, and the 444.
Since I don't reload, should I just start with Leverevolutions until I am comfortable shooting it? 325 grains I assume?
Open sights at this time, but may see if I can find a good fixed power scope soon.
I will send pics when I get home!
Thanks folks!
