I originally wanted a GBL but with all the problems with the new ones I decided to find a Guide Gun. I found a NIB 94XXX serial # on Gunbroker and bought it back on 2-19 only problem was the USPS lost my Money order for over two weeks in the Mail. Took over two weeks to get from FL to OK,all they could say was we're sorry but it should get there. Well after almost a month of worry I finally got my rifle ;D I got it all cleaned up and hope to take it to the range tomorrow and see if I can hit anything with the open sights if time permits.With my eyes I will need to put a scope on it just can't see open sights like I once could.Now I'm thinking 444 or 35 Rem. Marlinitus is a pain

You'll find that the Remington 405 gr. ammo is easy on the shoulder, I personally found it disappointing as I was expecting to be put back a step or two! As I come to realize the 405's are a nice tolerable round, I hope you reload as this could get spendy! Congrats and Welcome to the fun. Mr fixit

I do reload I have a box of Leverevolution just to try out but will try to work up some loads as I get the time.I've been working on loads for a 300RUM for the last two years I hope this thing is a little more tolerable than it was.

Remeber that the LE's are shorter brass to accomodate the gummy tips.

Made a short trip to the range today and ran a few rounds through it and the first 5 rounds were grouped a little less than 2 inches at 50 yards with open sights and with my eyes thats good.Once I get a scope on this thing I think I'm going to have a new favorite brush gun.

JW, oh yea it will be your go-to gun. Glad to hear you had fun. Now don't forget you need to bring it along to the Florida get together in May! I'll have mine there too.

I used Hornady Leverevolution 325gr. and can't wait to see what they do when I get a scope on this thing!

Oh, those Guide Guns are a trip. Next to my .35's and .30-30's it's my favorite shooter. I mounted a Bushnell Elite 3200 in 2 - 7 X 32 on it and it is just super. I'm not sure if I'm bringing it to the gathering this year. I've got so many new to me Marlins to show off. I don't want to disappoint Scott by not bringing those with me. I must remember to bring him all the see-thru scope mounts I've pulled off Marlins after I got them. ;D
