I have three Lever guns I’ve been working on now for a few months. One is a newer 1895 Guide gun and the other two are older model 336s.

The guide gun had an XS lever rail on it for several years, but I finally got out of the scout scope business and back in to a conventional scope. I received a Leupold FXII - 2.5x - 20 for Christmas, and just got it mounted as low as I can with a Warne base and Weaver Grand Slam lever lock quick release rings.

The next up is my 1974 model 336 in 30-30 with a 1978 model 4x - 32 Bushnell Banner made-in-Japan scope with a holdover dial top turret. This old gun has some very nice wood on it and is unusually accurate for a lever gun with a magazine tube hanging off the barrel.

Last, but not least is my 1966 model 336 in 35 Rem that was very rough when I got it. I converted it to a straight grip with a Boyd’s stock. It now has a an M8 - 4x Leupold (1965-1979 production) and I just received a set of Weaver original top-mount low rings to get the scope as low as possible with almost all period correct accessories, including the scope. I did go with a Warne 2-piece base to get the lowest mounting possible.

All are now ready for deer, bear, coyotes, or just target shooting...

I guess I wasn’t quite done after all. I’ve been trying to talk myself into Marauderizing my 1966 model 336 in 35 Rem. I finally got the guts and did it. I might disassemble one more time to cut the front of the forearm slightly shorter. Just got done this evening (1/24/20), so I haven’t had time to shoot it yet.
