Hi, I need a replacement rear sight for a 1949 336 SC 30-30. What would be a period specific sight? Does it fold? Single elevator or double elevator like the marbles? White Diamond? I want to get one that closely matches the original to respect this beauty. It currently has a Lyman 66LA which is nice but i want it to be original. thanks for your help. Jeff

That would be a non folding, with step (knotched) elevater wedge. I have one that came off a 1948 or 1949 336. I always liked the side mounted peep, either williams foolproof, or the Lyman.

When I was looking for a period correct sight , I put an ad on a "want to buy" and a guy wrote back that he had a brand new lyman reciever sight that would work . It sure did and make the rifle look great too !
