I was under the impression that one HAD to send a reciever to NEF for fitting and all for an alternate barrel for a rifle, but I see posts about recieving barrels from other forum members, other private parties - what is the real deal? I had always thought that there must be a percentage of chance that barrel from one rifle will fit another with no fitting or other modifications. Is this a fact?

Mike, for the most part, they usually fit fine, but not always, I've bought 6 or 7 used barrels and have enough handi frames that I usually have one that will provide good lockup. If not, it doesn't take a lot of work to get em locked up. Check out the FAQ in the NEF/H&R Centerfire forum at Graybeard, my instructions for barrel fitting will help ya. Keep in mind that rifle caliber barrels should only be used on the SB2 frames and never on an SB1 shotgun frame. Most of the handgun calibers are ok on the shotgun frames.

Great - thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
