The weather was overcast yesterday and today and it was good for some picture taking. Trying to adequately capture this rifle in photos has left me with a higher appreciation of professional photography and lighting. The piano finish on the stock made it difficult to photo even with an overcast sky and shade.
Here's my Marlin 1893 in .32-40 with a 26" octagonal barrel made in 1898. There's a few dings and turned screws, but overall she's in pretty good shape for her age.
SHAZAAAM! Boy howdy that's pretty. I have a 26 inch Winchester 32-40 but no Marlins in that caliber. May have to remedy that. I guaranteeee that anything I get couldn't be that nice.
Pretty good shape he says. You know what else is in “pretty good shape?” The statue of David. You have what looks like Michelangelo’s 1893, what a beauty!
A very fine piece you have. I almost got an engraved 1881 but had to bow out at $5500, it went for $7400. There is one out there for me somewhere ( if I win the lottery)
