Well today I ordered a drc lever for my gs.I have had my guide gun for 9 years but until I joined the forum I didn't know there was so many ways to customize a marlin. After seeing the nice guns here I have added skinner peeps, firesight front, and a new follower so my gun would cycle le's.I have a pachmayr decelerator prefit on the way and hope it fits because I tried the limbsaver and it was big for my gun.I was told 2 days on the lever and will post pics when I get it.

Thanks! I got the recoil pad tonight and it is to small with wood going past pad about 1/8 on top and bottom.Pachmayr and limbsaver were my only options so looks like it is a slip-on or nothing.Any body know of any other brands that might fit?

You can always buy a grind to fit pad from those two companies and fit it yourself to your rifle. I like the DRC lever too and will be ordering one in a few months. First off I'm spending my money on some reloading stuff.

I put a Limbsaver pad on my 1895G. I bought two, plus a 'grind-to-fit' pad.
The first pad I tried was just ever-so-slightly large, and the second was a 'tad' small.
The 'grind-to-fit' was waaaaaaay large. (I've heard that if you put this pad in the freezer for an hour before 'grinding', it makes it easier to work with.)

So, I put the first pad on, tightened it down, and put two thicknesses of "Painter's Tape" (blue masking tape) on the buttstock, and with a very fine detail sander, worked the Limbsaver pad to a really nice fit. (Using 220 grit paper!)
Here's a photo of my 1895G w/Limbsaver pad:

Thats one fine lookin gun! My limbsaver like yours was a little big but at least I wouldn't have exposed wood on each end.I think I'll get another limbsaver and grind it like you did.My problem now is to return the pachmayr I have to pay return shipping plus 10% restocking fee.

Re: DRC lever (now with pics)

I got my lever last night and had it switched out in no time.Lever cycled fine but a little hard to open,so a few strokes of a file on the bottom of the plunger and I was good to go.Fit and finish is great and to me the added size makes cycling easier with less effort.

I just put one on my GG. The only thing I would complain about if it were something to complain about is that the lever doesn't fit as close to the stock as the OEM one did. I'm sure I will adjust to the new feel, and I absolutely love how a gloved hand fits in the lever now.

I had the opposite problem, I had to adjust to be harder to open, but as you said, a couple of strokes of the file and Voila', just like I like 'em.

Looks to be well made, and the finish is very nice looking. A definate two thumbs up..
