The barrel misalignment issue was caused by a faulty piece in our insertion machine. The machine had to be repaired and certain parts needed to be redesigned for more reliability. The receiver on your rifle is being replaced. The engineers are telling us that they will be available in May, An honest guess would probably be 6-8 weeks before we get the receiver and get your rifle repaired and returned to you. We appreciate your patience.

Hello, anyone listening? Anyone care?

I'm finding this entire gun purchase to be more trying than its worth. A little more info with your repair updates would be greatly appreciated. I already know the rifle I bought had problems. I was hoping to get info like what you've found wrong with it, and what specific repairs you are performing. How about a time estimate. I am also wondering what caused the Barrel / Receiver alignment problem to start with. Is there anybody left at Remington that even cares about your customers or knows how to interact with them? I want to be able to brag about your customer service, but you're making it pretty difficult. Please contact me. E-mail is fine. Thanks.

These are my posts and response I finally got from the Remington customer service message service on their website. I was pretty happy when I first got this now I'm just confused. If the machine is broken and has to be redesigned, then how are they making them now and replacing rifles for other people that have been told they are getting one from the production line? I've had better service at a 4 year old's lemonaid stand.

Do you know what year your rifle is or is it a newer Marlington?
Hey! I know just what You feel. I had to send my 338 MX back in december and all the frustrating BS that they have been feeding us, I was RERALLY Mad for a while but I soon learned that I was not alone. I know not everyone can go out and buy another gun but that's what I did to do to relieve some of the frustration! so I found a 2007 308 MX and It fills the void for now, anyway You said May, I'll wait till the end of May and then I'll decide whether to get my money back or not. But You are right! this is BS!!!! What kind of company is this? Just hang tough till the end of May and see what happens. May 31st is my reckoning day for Marlington and My 338 MX. I guarantee this experience with them has changed My opinion of them and future purchases of there products. Dennis
This is a shame cause w/out us they will be doomed, cause they won,t survive just sellin rifles to the unsuspected occasional buyer.
A faulty piece in the insertion machine that occured after the first year guns were fine?
I have an MX .338. it took 2 shims under the back of the scope to get it on target. I'm not happy about it and am waiting to see how these guys at remington eventually sort this all out.
I have been in customer service for 38 years and treating the public the way they have I would have been fired long ago. these guys knew all about the problem with these rifles and STILL shipped them out. all for the mighty dollar.

And why would you not believe this response?
Looks to me that the last rifle sent in for repair is the first to be fixed and they are going backwards in the repair schedule. I'd be raising all kinds of hell if someone that sent theirs in in March and got it back before the ones sent in way back in October of last year.
That is an awfully good question Hal asked. The reason Remington gives sounds plausible. I have worked on similar machines. The inserting machine will essentially be a jig that holds the receiver in place as the threads for the barrel are bored. It seems logical that they would be able to set it up for other models as well, making the alignment pieces replaceable. With the .308/.338 being a new model the parts used for alignment may have been designed poorly with some of them allowing the defect. Allow for more than one machine and some were bound to be OK, accounting for the good ones. Where I have a problem is that some people have reported having there rifles replaced with one off "the assembly line". If they are able to get a good rifle off the assembly line why are some people from last year still waiting? Furthermore, if, as I was told, the defective parts had to be redesigned and engineering is looking at sometime in may as the target for getting their equipment squared away, then how are they getting good ones off the assembly line now? I'm not confused or in disbelief of the explanation I was given, only by the customer service. If I had as much as one machine that was turning out good product you can bet I would start with the oldest repair unit and run it every minute I could to take care of my customers. I this because I have done it. I am a field service engineer for a large company and I work on multi-million Dollar production machines. When my customers have a problem, so do I, and nobody rests until they are taken care of. Hence the reason for my confusion. Please no one take this wrong, I own several Remingtons and Marlins. I expect this one to eventually be as good as all the rest. I'm just wondering what is in their collective minds.

Very good explanation...thanks.
Sorry Guy's, You have Your 338s. We Don't. This sounds like more Smoke and Mirrors to Me! It's the same Old crap. Sorry but it's getting really old. Dennis
I have been hearing the same BS since I returned mine way back in the beginning of Oct. A couple months go by and I get really pissed and raise hell anyway I can, and it gets their attention. After I calm down because of their reassurance and promises, another couple months go by and I get irate again. nothing seems to matter to these guys.
