I recieved a rifle that had a bad ride in the little Brown truck. to the extent it was in two peices. All the while i searched the web world for a replacement stock ...3 weeks .. untill i got the OK they would pay the claim. the only stocks are the ones Boyds make that Vic sells. i don't want a plain jane no checkering stock. what to do. I mean this thing was really busted
It was cracked clear up to the frt reciever bolt ,along the top of the wrist and the bottom ,and a hair line on both side in frt of the break. Anyone notice the two impact marks on the box? It look beyond repair.
Well for the sane people .I'm used to dragging home injured blue and wood puppys. Now I had to reinforce the stock to the rear of the reciever bolt .
So i epoxied a 1/4" bolt accross a demeled slot ,just behind it. next was to reinforce the wrist. The way it was broken I wouldn't trust it . Didn't want a stock in my face
Found this ideas on a midway utube vid. A 1'4" threaded rod again epoxied back thru the wrist about 5" long. .Today i wiped a little stain on it to see how badly it was gonna show ,Oh Yeah its' a 810A --- 3006
Not done yet but i think I've salvaged it .Ross thought I should share this ,so if any of you guy end up between a rock and a hard place you know there's ways out . Sorry about the long post and all the pics ~~~Chaser11

I think you did a great job and don't be apologizing for the length of the thread. It ain't long at all and those are very good and helpful pics.

Question, what did you use to glue the actual wood back together?

Incidentally, have you ever seen Mic McPherson's Lever Action Thru-Bolt system? :)
I used Hot Stuff it'a a CA glue thats gap filling , the Super T is the thinner stuff, get it @ Brownells squeezed it together lenght wise on my wood working bench with the dogs on the end vice and bench top . Not Familar with Mic McPherson's Lever Action Thru-Bolt system you mentioned . I've had guys say it 's probably stronger than original and others warn me to wrap in in packing blanlet on testing. I was a total loss untill i found the threaded rod idea.I basically had nothing to lose..Gonna touch up the pressed checkering a little so it don't show so much ,and with another wipe of stain and a finish it might be almost invisable ... ;D -~~~Chaser11
