i found some info on here regarding case damage due to too much lube but that info didn't pertain to straight walled cases so i'm double checking here just to make sure.

the first 45-70 case i ran through the resizer came out damaged (see pics). i'm assuming it's from too much lube and want to make sure it's ok to still reload this case??

Whew! Well I am not the only one. I am new to reloading 45/70 and I had exactly the same damage pattern on some of the cases coming out of my resizer. Looks like I was being too generous with the lube as well. I had guessed that might be the issue, but it is nice to have it confirmed.

Not to worry...it is a common mistake made by most reloaders in the beginning. With a little practice you will get just enough for a thin even coat and all will be well.

A little too much lube is better than forgetting to lube altogether.
