I have a Marlin 781, bolt action and tube fed. I left it at dad's house years ago and I now have it back in my hands. I want to give it a cleaning before I take it out plinking. I was able to figure out how to remove the bolt, but I have not been able to find any info on how to clean it. Is there a way to lock the feeding mechanism down so I can clean it (pushing the cleaning rod from the rear to the muzzle). OR am I supposed to clean the barrel by pushing the rod into the muzzle and going down to the receiver? Any help is appreciated. I have tried YouTube but have not been able find the proper video. The videos on cleaning bolt action rifles are showing rifles with clip magazines (these can be cleaned back to front because there is no tube feed mechanism).
