I just went and bought 25lb bad of crushed walnut shells from the local pet store for $14. They call it Guinea Pig bedding.

Works as good as their more expensive stuff you buy at the gunshows for polishing cases.

RGRWJB, not a bad price. But ifin you need to buy any more try your local feed store. Been getting a 50 lb bag for bout 11 bucks.
Know what you mean about the gun store prices, and pet shops are fairly high on the walnut shell.

Thanks for the heads up, as much as I've been shooting lately, I've been going thru the stuff like crazy. And at a buck a pound for the fancy stuff, I tend to use it too long before I can bring myself to pitch it. Us cheap, um,, I mean frugal types  love this kind of info!

If you ever find that you have unused rice in the cabinet and you know that it's been there a long while, it makes an excellent rough media. I use it as my cleaning media and then the corn cob for the final polish. Figure it saves me money as it would normally just be tossed out.
