Does any one know when Marlin started to use cheap foregin made screws. These would be for barrel bands, they dont burr like old screws, they actualy chip and crack along the slot. Even using gunsmith screw drivers dosen't seem to help. Any answer helpful.

I bought my 336c in 35 rem. brand new two years ago, and my barrel band screw broke after about three boxes of shells were shot threw the gun. Hopefully the new one they sent me last longer ???

I really dont know. I'v heard things about inferior screws but personally never noticed anything with screws I'v purchased. Maybe somebody who knows will chime in.
