I'm a newbie here. I have as stated an 1979 manu. 1895. I believe it has microgroove rifling, and am wondering what others have found to be the best cast bullet diameter for rifles like this.

This is a great forum. Took my rifle to the range yesterday and found I had chambering problems using some factory Federal Hot-Cor 300's. It handled the factory Remy 405 just fine. Already this AM I found on the forum how to solve my problem!! Great!

If you're going to shoot cast, .459 to .460 - Check Beartooth Bullets (he even has .4595). Jacketed Factory Ammo shoots just fine in mine. You need the bigger diameter in cast bullets for the Micro-Groove because the rifling is "shallower". And yes, your's should be MG. Hope this helped!!!!!!! ;D
