Did they say what that cartridge was? I missed it if so. Marlin 308?
the video said it was a 30-30, at the 1:49 mark.

Lever Evolution ammo, 197 yards

Wow. Pretty awesome.
The barrel looked bigger than 30 caliber. It looked to me like a 338 ME.

I agree.... even the profile/diameter looks bigger than the 30-30

It was a great shot, thou.
This video is an obvious fake. Everyone knows lever guns can't kill deer anymore.
Well they stated that it was a 30-30 so I'll take their word for it. Would have been nice to know where the bullet struck. It went down like a CNS hit.

Close but the reality was that a 444P was used (pulled the trigger simultaneously as the 30-30) to kill the deer off camera. You're right that a thuty-thuty can't kill a deer, especially at that range.

My bolt friends would say, nice close in shot.
I LOVE my 336 XLR 30-30. ;D
Awesome!!
Pretty cool but that shot where ya see the muzzle looked to me like it was at least 35 cal.
Anytime Im looking at the muzzle of a gun, with somebody else behind it.It looks big ;) Gunrunner,,
I am sure I saw this clip on the Hunting Channel and this hunt last year past -it was showing the Marlin 308 ME as the gun had just been out over a year .
It is hard to range the shot from the the clip , But I would say it was long enough to be gone by a lever .
Why does most everybody act surprised that a a .30-30 does what is has been doing for over 100 years with regular old ammo? None of the men I learned to hunt from thought the .30-30 was a short range brush gun, guess they didn't read enough gun rags.
.

Conventional wisdom knows that the 30-30 skids to a halt at 200 yards and simply falls to the ground. Had that buck been another 10 feet down range he would not even noticed that shot, he would certainly not be injured by it. ;D ;D ;D
Dumb hunter, just not aware of the sever limitations of the old 30-30.
My buddy's got one, and that's a 336 XLR for sure.
I know they said a .30-30 as a annotation on the video...

But that muzzle sure looks bigger than a .30 caliber. I will agree with Halwg -- my guess is a .338 MX. Looking at my 336C in .35 Remington, and gauging the bore to the size of the front sight hood as a reference, it might even be a .35 Remington XLR.

'Sides... What everyone else said about the .30-30 not being sufficient for killing deer is pretty well documented. ;) ;D
