im sending it back....and hoping for a refund.

I am just to paranoid about problems...with lack of ammo availability, lack of ammo options, milling issues, canted barrels.....all that BS that i never had to worry about in a Marlin.

What do you guys think

Two options.
1. Send it back hope for a refund.
Or
2. Send it in and get it fixed.

Ammo I don't think is a problem. When you find it just buy more then you need.

I don't have the MXLR but I do have the 308 MX and I have to tell you that it is one VERY SWEET shooting rifle. It is VERY ACCURATE on paper and in the field. I have taken 5 deer in the last 3 years with the gun. Every deer that I have shot with it has dropped. I loaded up with 10 boxes of ammo and have used maybe a box and a half sighting it in and hunting. I bought dies for reloading but still have not done that yet.
I am glad to see that there are other ammo options becoming available. I can honestly say that I have had a ball shooting this thing and I have gotten sooooo many comments on the gun at the range and at deer camp. I am the only one that hunts with a lever gun and that gun has left quite an impression on folks. There are at least 2 other hunters that are thinking of getting one and one that is actively trying to find a 308 in the MXLR version.

As for ammo it's every where! I just today received Ten box's of 308 ME for $18.70 a box plus shipping = $209.00 from Big supply shop so it's out there, as for the rifle just it sounds like you want to send it back. at least temporarily mount a scope and bore sight it so you will know for sure. I bought a bad 338 mx but that didn't stop me from trying another Marlin and my 308mx is just fine. Dennis

I think if you actually feel you are being paranoid, then you are probably overreacting. Sit down, and make a list of the "problems". What MOA will it hold? Is that because of you or the gun? Is there some functional issue? Have you looked at the fixes here if there is a real problem? Don't let a litle negativity here ruin you enjoying a fine weapon!

If you just want an MX, I can understand that, but the two issues are not really related. Pretty much the same gun as far as mechanics.

Ammo is not an issue for the 308 ME. Find it online, or at a dealer - stock up!!

I think you are either overeacting or not conveying to us properly what is actually going on. My 308MXLR is fantastic and it'd be one of the last to go. I've got 2 or 3 boxes of ammo that is sold locally (very inexpensively) and now have the ability to reload identical rounds in addition to other types of bullets as well. I've made a shot at over 400 yards with this gun and the deer went down fast. If there are problems I'd address it with Marlin and come up with a solution. If your original reason for wanting the gun has vanished, perhaps you'd better sell it and forget about asking Marlin to make up for your mistake.
