I toppled this young forky in August while archery hunting within the coastal mountains of northern California. A bachelor group of bucks was observed from long distance with my binoculars and a stalk was planned. My focus was upon the largest buck, a heavy bodied 4 X 4 with symmetrical antlers. But as I slowly walked on my knees to get within final range, this young forky stood up at about 15 yards. My choice was to shoot him or else he would spook and they all would bound away. So I arrowed this buck through the chest organs and he bounded away but toppled after a short run.
