Ever since my neck surgery I've been worried that recoil might damage something. Well I bought a Lead sled Solo yesterday and we took it to the range this morning. If you haven't seen this one yet, it's designed to be used with lever action rifles. I have to say that this thing is awesome, it's steady as a rock, it eliminates all of the recoil, and you can work the lever while the rifle is clamped to the rest.

I also have one and find it extremly useful. Makes a handy stand to work on rifles in addition to a shooting rest.

This wasn't out when I got mine so I got the DFT so I could do the lever without taking it out.. yep they save shoulders.. and time when sighting in a scope too.. three shots and your zero usually....

I bought one a year ago and it is a great rest for my Levers and my AR-15. If your shooting 45/70's out of it you definitely need as much weight as you can to hold it down, as it's a little to light for that cartridge. And it's definitely good if you are worried about your neck or shoulders as it takes quite a bit of the kick out ,even with the 45/70.

I don't have a 45/70, but it totally tamed my Rem 700 30-06 and the 30-30 was like shooting a .22. I just got Ranch Dogs mold for the 30-30 so now I plan on shooting the heck out of my 336.

Thanks for this thread. I had a $30 off $100 purchase coupon for Cabelas that needed using before April 26 so I bought a Solo last night. It was priced $89.99 which is a lot more attractive than the other models.

Couldn't believe what a 20 lb bag of shot is priced though. What are you guys using for weight?
