I was in the local gun shop looking for a rifle for general hunting. Something my recoil sensitive wife wouldn't mind shooting. I was actually looking for a Savage (I've owned several Savage rifles, and always had good luck with them.) What I ended up leaving with was a Marlin XS7 youth model in .243. The stock fits me well, and it's light enough to be comfortable to carry on a day's hunt. Now I have to get it to the range and sight int he scope, and work up some loads for it.
