Drove down to Dick's Sporting Goods today to look around. Wife went into AC Moore to look around while I was browsing at Dick's. I was in the Gun Dept and saw a Bushnell 2x7x36 rifle/shotgun scope under the counter behind the glass. Asked if I could see it and the young man
behind the counter hands it to me. Liked it and asked him for the same model. No luck, they were out. I told him I would buy the desplay model if that was okay. He says sure and proceeds to look for the empty box and paperwork. Oooops, no luck there either. He hands me the
scope and the bar code tag from the display and I proceeds to the cash register all a flutter and cash waving in my hand. Waits my turn and stuffs the money into my pocket for fear I'd lose it. Gets to the guy who's gonna take my money and he looks at the scope kinda weird. I says
yea I know, last one in the store and no box. I asks if there was any further discount on said scope since it don't got no paperwork or box. Well
he looks at the scope then the cash register about four times and then says if he takes off another twenty bucks would that be sufficient! I says
fine with me. He rings it up, I pays cash, and runs from the store before he changes his mind. I know the last time I browsed the Gun Dept at
Dick's it was $99.99. Today it was $89.00. So with my twenty bucks off it came to $69.00 + tax. Apparently Bushnell does not make that model anymore. It's super clear, has fast eye focus and weighs around 11oz. I think I did good today. What say you guys/gals? I really am fond of scopes in the 2x7 range and I'm happier than a two petered puppy with my purchase. I added it to the 11 other brand new scopes in my scope locker.

marlinluvr, I've got a "BIG" scope fetish. Stems from the time when I was about 22 years old and didn't have a pot to pee in or window to throw the pot out of. A cheapie 4X scope went south and cost me a deer. Swore that once I had the financial security to do so, I would never
be without a back-up scope. Today I have the twelve new one's plus most of my often used deer rifles have a scope in another locker sighted in
and mounted in rings ready to mount and hunt with. I mainly use the Weaver Quick release rings and bases and tag the scopes as to what rifle
and load they are sighted in for. Also do the same for most of my RF rifles. Having 30+ deer rifles I know it's foolish to tie up money in scopes
the way I do but like you said, whatever floats your boat. As a side note, I have done test after test using Weaver Quick release scope rings and bases by shooting the rifle, taking off the scope by loosening the knurled thumb knob and then putting the scope back on and test firing.
In no case did I ever lose my sight setting, scopes were right on!

The old standby Weaver rings with the thumb screw/large screwdriver or coin slot, also do a nice job of returning to zero, just not as quick! Good day, jack

That's the kind I'm referring to. Only now I guess they call em Quick release rings. I always carry a quarter in my license holder just in case
I have to remove the scope and use the back up iron sites.

Dick's Stinks!

I rec'd a beautiful Marlin XL7 in 270 as a present. I then purchased a nice Bushnell scope for it. Took both to Dick's Sporting Goods in Indep., MO to have the scope mounted and boresighted. After firing it a number of times, I was wondering what on earth was going on! None of my shots were consistent -- no accuracy, no precision. For awhile, I thought it was me. Or, that the XL7 was not the rifle it'd been advertised as. Then, I noticed the scope had shifted and realized the bozo at Dick's had not tightened the rings! I tightened the rings, fired some more -- still not acceptable. Then, I noticed the rail (which I'd purchased at Dick's) was also not tightened! After tightening everything (which I'd already paid Dick's to do) I sighted in the rifle -- everything now is perfect. MY ADVICE -- stay away from Dick's Sporting Goods; they haven't a clue what they're doing there. I, for one, won't be going back for anything.

Hey 358Win, great score on the scope. I to prefer Bushnell products over higher cost models and have found them to be better optics. As far as other reply's here. When a Man needs a little gun porn it doesn't matter what store it is as long as there is plenty of guns to look at.

I've bought ammo when Wally World did not have the calibre I needed, assessories, cleaning supplies. They are a little more expensive than Wally World, but sometimes WW runs out and doesn't get re-supplied for weeks. Two weeks ago I was grocery shopping and stopped in Sporting Goods to pick up Hoppes #9 cleaning solvent. SOLD OUT. Say what? I asked the guy behind the counter when it was coming in and he said "Who knows, we have no way of knowing". I asked if the other Walmart across town might have it, he said no. Off to Dicks, they had it in stock. Yes it was more than Walmart. But at least they had it to sell me.

I also pick up scopes when I find a good deal and store them for whenever I find a new rifle,
I already have optics on hand and I too, have had to pull one as a replacement for defective one

358, you did well my friend. I'm partial to Bushnell for providing tough scopes for us "blue collar" guys. As for you guys who would bash a fellow member for where he spends HIS money, why can't you just post "Nice scope?"

I did not know Dicks was anti second amendment. They are building a new Dicks store in my hometown and I will certainly remember their political stance.

Speaking of "Dicks". I saw a little Henry .22 that I liked and was ready to buy. I asked the clerk to hold the rifle but was denied. A customer can not handle a firearm.
