So I ordered some parts for my 1968 336 35 Rem. And the order got screwed up and I got Gold Bands... They actually do not have the parts for my rifle. I was wondering if the bluing kit form casey would work on the Gold bands... Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Chad

If the bands have an anodized or plated finish, I would not expect good results from the cold blue. I recall reading, a long time ago, about how cold bluing works. Copper sulfate in cold blue reacts with steel to form a layer that the bluing adheres to, or combines with. I hope I remembered that correctly! Like I tell the Missus, "I may not always be right, but I am never wrong!" I tried using cold blue on a brass Master key and it actually worked!

Them gold bands don't look bad at all when you apply a little BBQ grill paint to them prior to the install.

Are you really serious... If so, what is the name of the paint?
