Next-door neighbor captured this on his game cam yesterday near St. Franciscille, LA. I've never even heard of them in our neck of the woods.

I other news, my youngest son finally got his first deer today, about a [email protected] doe. He was shooting my 6.5 Swede.

Congrats to you and your son.

Bears usually do what they can to not attract attention. That one looks young and may have wandered into your area after having been driven away by mommy, and looking for a place of his own to spend the winter.

Yeah, had it figured at maybe 100-150#, so I expect there are a mature boar and sow in the vicinity, too.

Wish there were enough of them to hunt.

Bears are pretty amazing creatures. If you never get a chance to hunt them, I hope you'll enjoy just watching them. I truly enjoy watching bears go about their lives.

Yes, I hunt them too, but I like just watching and learning.

Regards, Guy

I hate bears!!!!!!!! I wish y'all had every one we have in S.C.!!!!!!!! And the reason is, the deer hunting used to be fantastic where I hunt, now it's lousey, I used to never see one, now I've got them two at a time on a trail camera, that's "IF" I can keep one on a tree. And the biggest reason I hate them is, this year alone, they ate $160.00 worth of my corn, "legal in SC", and not to open that can of worms, "to bait or not to bait", but where I hunt, if you don't put out corn, you will never see a deer, because eveybody around you puts out corn, and the reason I know this is the last deer I killed, a guy that hunts probably a mile from me told me he had that same deer on his trail camera, he told me I killed him before he had a chance to, and this year I've hardly seen any deer, and hardly ever even get one on a camera, and the only thing that's changed is the numbers of BLANKETY BLANK BEARS. Rant over. T Rex

Seems it's time for you to take up bear hunting! :)

Guy
My youngest (the one who just got his first white tail) has a VERY good chance of being stationed at Whidbey when he finishes fly boy school. If he does, we'll be doing some bear hunting up your way.
