Caught this one last Saturday. Took over 45 minutes of hard fighting on 12lb. test. My weight gauge only goes to 50lb. and he maxed that. I let the big guy go, to catch another day.

My son also landed a good size carp. We caught several channel cats also, it was an awesome father and son day.

Sounds like a great fishing day Moondoggie. That flathead must have created quite a fun time. Good for you to toss him back to give someone else a thrill. I really enjoy eating catfish but the bigger they get the less I enjoy the taste. The keepers for me are the 12"-18" ones.

Flatheads are a very interesting fish, not quite what people think of when they think catfish. Great fish and good for you for releasing it. I always liked smaller river cats when it comes to eating, anyway.

We catch these bruisers along the rivers here too. Bet she was a blast on 12 lb lol! Nice fish
