Marlinowners.com does not condone or recommend the use of any loads, methods, or any other information that is posted in these forums. All information is posted by the users of this site and is to be used at your own risk. Reloading, if properly practiced, can be a safe, enjoyable pastime. Always consult a reliable reloading manual before using any load data. The use of improper ammunition, ammunition that exceeds accepted pressure levels for the firearm in which it is used, or the use of firearms in poor condition can result in injury to property, and/or persons, or result in serious death!

Proceed at your own risk.

If you have data on any of the Big Bore Calibers that you would like to share, Here's the opportunity to do that. Please indicate the source of the data, powder, primers used, brass used, beginnming load and max load, as well as beginning velocity and max velocity and pressures if available, and any comments.

My most accurate Cast bullet loads

405 gr Oregon Trail Laser-cast (.459")
28 gr SR 4759 (Lyman Manual)
WLR
Starline Brass Trimmed 2.095"
OAL 2.530"
Roll Crimp =5/16 turn after contact
Chronographs 1489 Avg in 1895 GS
Very Clean burning load too.

430 gr TRUESHOT GC bullet (.459")
36 gr IMR 4198 (Oregon Trail Data supplied with bullets, lower end of the range)
WLR
Starline Brass 2.095"
OAL= 2.520"
Roll Crimp 5/16 turn after contact
Chronographs 1492 avg in my 1895 GS
1" c-c groups at 100 yards

405gr Laser Cast Bullet
11 gr Hercules Red Dot (GMDR.com)
WLR
W-W cases
Chronographs 1030 (SD of 9)
Very accurate in my 22" Marlin 1895, no so good in my GG
Same Load with a 300 gr cast bullet is pretty good too but I haven't chronographed it.

Jacketed Bullets

Hornady 350 gr JFP
IMR 4198 36 gr (Speer Manual)
WLR
W-W brass
Chronographs in the 1575 range (only shot one through)
VERY Accurate in my 1895 (22") and nearly so in my 1895GS

This bullet also shot well over AA5744 but left a lot a powder Zombies in the bore, case and chamber.

Other Stuff tried:
VARGET: Shows promise
2400: Poor so far, dirty
Aardvark Bullets. Excellent accuracy, didn't feed well

LEVEREVOLUTION Factory Ammo
1816 fps out of my 1895 GS
Average Accuracy
Brass is much shorter than NON LE 45-70 brass.

Wet Dog posted a 405gr load right above your post, the Lyman manuals, both the 48th and the Cast Bullet, have data for SR4759, I suggest you pick up the 48th, it's a must have of manuals IMO. It has SR4759 trapdoor data for all the bullets you mention, and some in 1895 data too.

Thanks for the info I have a Lyman from 1970 & the 47th edition but I'll check out the 48th edition also.I saw the 405 load data but wanted some for 300gr Nos PT & Rem.I have Speer,Nosler,Hornaday,Hodgdon,Lyman,NRA,etc, reloading books I guess it's time to buy more.Info from Lyman 49th Edition has data for SR 4759 with cast bullets but none with jacketed. I contacted the owner of Loadbooks USA and bought The Complete Reloading Manual for the 45-70 Gov't.

Thanks a lot for the load data I've been purchasing bullets from Noslers www.shootersproshop.com go to the side bar and click on bullets many available in 6mm,7mm,375,416, 308,etc. and other calibers. They must make Rem bullets as they've been selling them in 300gr HP & 405 gr FP plus 300gr Nos protected point partitions.Told my hunting buddies in PA about the shooters pro shop so they've been buying bullets to reload for all of their different caliber rifles.

I've been buying their 2nds for over two years now, their inventory is considerably depleted in part just due to me  , much of what they had listed are no longer available. Midsouth beats their factory first prices tho.

You missed out on the best buy anywhere at Cabelas on the 300gr NP, they were selling for $32 or so when everyone else was $40. I think you'll find the Rem 300 and 405 at Cabelas are still less than anywhere else.

Midway sometimes has good sale prices, but if check their shipping, they usually take you to the cleaners on bulk bullets unless they have their bulk bullet sales going. Right now they want $103 and $23 shipping for 500 of the 405gr Rems that are out of stock again  , Cabelas wants $95 for the bullets and $11 to ship, it pays to look around. My last order for 500 of the 405gr at Cabelas was $71 shipped compared to $82 at Midway, it's been a couple yrs tho, I think, time flies.

I don't think it's wise to use that old data with current powders, but that's just me, course if you have old powder to use up, that old data might come in handy.

Thankyou very much for that information,I used to use SR 4759 in a modified Egyptian 11mm Rem Rolling with a Navy Arms 45-70 octagon barrel & a mounted Unertyl target scope made into a benchrest schuetzen rifle .I breech loaded my cast bullets & one time I tried a 500gr cast round nose bullet never again my curved steel butt plate turned my shoulder in multiple colors as it healed.
