This forum and its members (self included) are a bad influence. I got my bolt guns, I got my handguns, I got my leverguns (all Marlins) and I was sitting pretty figuring I was done and could handle anything that came my way. The wife said no more guns for a while, so I decide to pass the time reading the forum and enlightening myself with the combined knowledge of my fellow lever jockeys.

Slowly it started to rise, then I started to recognize the symptoms, but it can't be I have Marlins and I am content. Then I went to a pawnshop and saw a nice Marlin 444 and started researching. Then it hit me, I don't have a 45/70 yet.

You guy are getting me in trouble, I now feel incomplete with out a 45/70. I am slowly managing the illness with subtle glances at the Marlin website, reviewing articles on the 45/70, somewhat content with internet searches regarding the 45/70. Dang it, do I need a 45/70, Nooooo, I don't. Can I defend my humble abode with my meager selection of firearms, yes. Can I put meat on the table with my skills and bullet spitters, yes. Why O why do I feel the need to run out and search for a 45/70. That darn Marlinitsis. I think I've been bit hard this time.

Just remember that you have an illness and an addiction to Marlins, its called Marinitsis and we are your support group.
You need a 45-70 and reloading equipment so you can load a 45-70 from mild to wild.

Hello, my name is JD338 and I have an addiction to Marlins and 45-70.....

Just be careful and heed what the "wife" told you, (for a while). ;D After buying my 1894P two days before Christmas and then "accidently" (funny story) buying my ported 1895M two weeks ago I pushed that button. Now I definitely need to “wait for a while” before I adopt another family member...... I can still dream can’t I? If a 336D showed up at a reasonable price I would find myself in deep trouble back at the ranch!

Without A 45-70 you are incomplete. It's probably getting hard to hold your head up in public. You need to correct this as soon as posible.
We are here to help! ;D

My friend Scott gives good advice. Whatever satisfaction that 45-70 might give you may be strongly offset by the anger from your wife. Tread lightly. ;D

Maybe while you save up and let some time settle in and soften the missus and lessen the impact, you can delve into the guns you already have. That's what I started doing a couple years ago and it has been extremely rewarding and gratifying. I've had more fun learning and personalizing my guns than I ever would have gotten from new rifles.

Do you have any 45/70 dies yet? If not, pick up a set - that will drive you nuts until you pick up a rifle to match! Works for me everytime, I go buy the dies and then have a built-in excuse (in my mind) why I need the new gun.
Funny,Thats how I work it.:)I have a set of 218 Bee and 40-65 dies.Guess what happens next. ;D

PS:Never let NEED get in the way of WANT!!

It is called, "THE LUST OF OTHER THINGS". The moment you get the item lusted for, OTHER THINGS demand your attention. It is more serious than a sickness, it is a spiritual force that demands control over your mind, will, and emotions.
The only cure is to give what is precious away, not many desire to be cured. If you do, I can arrange for my FFL holder to contact you. If not, it is like a roller coaster ride of highs, and lows.
Best way to manage it, is to spend time, and focus with what you already have.
Spend time at the loading bench, and the range.

Check your total hours spent at this site, if it is more than a week, you need to take your marlin family out for some quality time, and turn of the computer, as it will fuel the, LUST OF OTHER THINGS.

Don't ask how many hours I have logged here. Probably enough to build a new house.

The reason why you keep buying guns is because you don't own a 45-70 yet. Once you get one you will like it so much that all other guns won't seem to interest you anymore. That will save you big money in the long run because you won't keep chasing after some other gun to make you happy. - Think your wife will buy that one?

tlc....WHAT took you so long? We are the people our parents warned us about! ;) ;D ;D You'll get all kinds of help (pushed in the right/ maybe wrong) direction depending on your situation. Why you need/want a 45/70 is......... it's got a big hole in one end and makes the earth shake when the trigger is pulled. ;) ;D ;D ;D Mr fixit

I now feel terribly inadequate, I am unworthy. There is nothing more I can do. I will now crawl inside my gun safe and sit in the dark cradling my Marlins and weeping quietly.

The only cure is to give what is precious away, not many desire to be cured. If you do, I can arrange for my FFL holder to contact you.

I've used a similar statement with a board member here before (It didn't work then either).

Why not start by purchasing a Team 45-70 hat and wearing it all the time. Hopefully this will prepare the way toward your purchase of an 1895.

My dear loving and caring wife would read that writing on the wall so fast, she'd shoot me with my own guns. :p

tlc how long have you been married to this new found saint?

i always cushion the blow with honey the love of my life.
never ever say if you loved me you would... all you will get is a bolo at this station.
look at it this way the the blind lady of justice is holding a scale in her hand. if you look carefully
you will se on one side of the scale groveling and on the other side is a brand spankin new 1895 ( you know a real mans gun)
a 1895 weighs roughly seven pounds (that is naked by the way) so to tip the scale in your favor you will need atleast seven pounds of groveling and no at this stage in the game seven pounds of groveling does not equal seven pounds of feathers, so... for the love of
marlin man quit polishing the bench, man up put your best knee forward. work it like demi moore when she pole danced.
remember we are all here for ya ;)
