i figured i would put this out there as a public service message. at the end of january i saw a seller from crystal river florida called american trading post selling older federal 200 grain 35 rem for $20/box shipped. i bought 10 and when i got them i found several boxes were green and leaking phosphorence like they had been under water or something. the rest of the ammo was really tarnished and looked bad. long story short, i just got my refund from these clowns after many unanswered emails and several calls directly to their business. a month and a half in all. he indicated that he "cleaned up" some of the rounds and they looked good and seemed perfectly ok with that.

I've bought some for the boxes that had some pretty nasty ammo. Some of the stuff was from the teens, I was suprised to see every one I culled still fired. A bunch of it I chunked.

I've bought thousands of rounds of 35, another thing I noticed was old Federal ammo has the most cracked cases at the neck.

Thanks for the heads up.

I traded new Hornady for old cruddy green Federal with someone here a year ago. My cost ended up about 40 cents each. Got about 400 rounds, Plinked with around half. All went bang. My MO was to shoot part of each box to test. Necks split on 1 out of 5 rounds fired. Was in original red paper boxes that were not too bad. Brass seemed to react with the red plastic cartridge holder. Turned greenest when in contact with the plastic.
