I just found one in a gun store and secured it for myself.
Just wondering what is the difference between 39a 39m and 39a goldens?

1953-57 = 39A Mountie
1957-72 = Golden 39A Mountie
1972-87 = Golden 39M

The Mountie and 39M have 20 inch barrels and straight stocks.
The standard 39A have 24 inch barrels and pistol grip stocks.
39A Mountie has the same barrel markings as the standard 39A
Starting in 1957 the barrel was marked Golden 39A Mountie.
The 39M had the rounded lever for a few years like the Mountie and then switched to the squared lever. The barrel is also tapered, so it is noticeably lighter than the Mountie barrel. Personally, I like the Mountie more than the 39M.

So, what exactly did you find.

That's good info right there! I learned something new today....:congrats:
Thanks

Hey MidBigWest
Congrats to you buddy on the new to you Mountie!!! :tee:
They are some fun little guns no doubt... I need to get mine out and get to shootin it some more! I've only put a handful of shells through it since I got it, and that was awhile ago....

Enjoy it and please post pics when you get it! :)

I have it being held on layaway.
Got a few things coming up that I had to take care of to invest in that at the moment.
But I could not pass on 400 I have not seen one at that price ever.
They still have a 39 but it has been customized i will take pictures of that one as i still can not figure what it supposed to look like.
I do not even know how to describe it is so customized not good in my opinion but too late.

Hey MBW,
Here's a pic of my 1956 Mountie. It's a little rough on the eyes, but has an interesting story. It was given to me on y 13th birthday in 1965, and was stolen in 1974. In 2013 I responded to a for sale ad in a town about 90 miles from where I live. I gave the guy $400.00 for it and brought it home. Several months afterwards, I was going through some of my dad's old papers and found his original receipt for it with the serial number on it. I was really shocked when I realized that I had purchased my own gun back after almost 40 years.

Still not exactly sure between the attractive female who sold it to me and the price.
The only thing I could remember was about the printing on her shirt and it had 39 golden something or other on it.
Scary thing Is I was more excited about the gun than the cute girl I have got my priorities together.
