I have 4 AR 15 30 round mags that I would like to swap for 4 AR15 30 round mags that are date stamped 93 or older. In the state of NY you can only have a 10 round mag unless it is dated prior to the ban. The gun dealers in NY that have any are charging $40.00 per. It not much fun going to the range with one 5 round mag one 10 round & one legal 30 round mag. Don`t move to New York!! 444

Where would one find a date stamp on an AR-15 magazine? I have a couple dozen, but have never noticed a date on any of them.

If a date is stamped on them, it is on the side the one I have is dated 06 93, & one of my other ones is dated 5 09. the other 3 don`t have dates on them. What a pain in the A$$!! If I wasn`t so damn old I would move back to Pa. in a minute! 444

I'll have to go look at mine... I've never noticed a date code on mine, either.

Did (D-Rep) Carolyn McCarthy have some thing to do with this idiotic law? It smells of her misguided, emotionally-driven hysteria. I'm sorry for what she went through, but if her husband had been legally (or illegally) armed, he'd be alive now, and we would never have heard of her. A far better Alternative Reality!

444Nut, I'm sorry, but none of the mags I have qualify under the ridiculous statutes you have to live by. Hopefully someone will be able to help out, as I quietly thank my lucky stars for being born 1500 miles away from the place that would pass such a law in the first place. :p

NY was one of the states that passed legislation during the Federal AWB period with little opposition. After all, it just mirrored law already in place. ::)

Of course, they left out that annoying sunset clause...

Well, I'll be rolled in cornmeal and deep-fried.... I have one. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet your rediculous date requirement. I'm not a big 30rd mag fan, I prefer USGI 20's and Magpuls, so I never really looked at it.

On some of the preban mags you have to thae off the bottom clip & they are date stamped on the inside about an inch from the end. See the pictures I posted under AR15 Preban buyers guide on this forum. 444

as far as I have been told the preban mags will not have a date stamp. I think they made it mandatory when the awb went into affect.

Stupidest law ever...criminals pay no heed to gun laws. Really. Best wishes in getting your hands on a stash. All of mine are relatively new. I'll keep an eye out at the gunshows, though.
