If you do not think it makes a difference shoot a NEF 12 or 20 and with the same load shoot it in a pump gun.
Or any old SxS. My 311A kicks like a mule with skeet loads and kicks like a Clydesdale with #4 and #6 high brass waterfowl loads. I foolishly shot a rifled slug out of it once. Yeah, just once, it's like you can tell a kid to stay away from the stove but at least half gotta find out why for themselves. The 311A only gets to the range maybe twice a year, for old times sake.

20 gauge makes some more sense as it uses around 30% less powder, 518 loads vs 318 per pound
Now you got me thinking. I do a fair amount of trap shooting. The math is persuasive.
