Just picked up a nother mod. 60 the other day cleaned it up and took it out to see how it would perform first shot was ftf next 3 went bang next one ftf removed the round found firing pin to be hitting shell but but not firing.i am shooting the cci mini mags and in my other mod 60 they go off every time. i dont think its a shell issue ??? put missfires back in an they went off,Just wondering if any one here may have had this issue with there mod 60s forgot this is a older model 1973 may just be getting wore out. :-\thanks in advance dch.

Ok we did some experimenting today took the the bolt from my other mod 60 that goes bang every time and installed in the one with the miss fires woo la it fires every time now. have narrowed it down to a wore firing pin which i will replace and will replace the extractors and springs being the inner one is a little sloppy. So if any one out there that has an old mod 60 with some high mileage on it ftf then fires 3or 4 then ftf i would look at replacing the firing pin. at the the start i thought i may have had a bad lot of ammo which is not uncommon sometimes but the ammo proved to be good. Ok enough this ones fixed and hope it may shed some light if someone down the road runs in to this same issue. :) dch

I usually start with CCI Minimags, because some ammo out there (like Remmy Golden Bullets) tends to FTF a LOT.
With the CCI, I never worry about no bang, unless there is something very wrong with the gun.

Use Quality Ammo, then detail cleaning the action, check headspace, then replace springs, then replace firing pin, always in that order.

big sherek very good in formation on how trouble shoot this issue. and i agree those remmy golden are duds along with a few others. The cci mini mags seem to work the best in both mod.60 s i have. I think it was just a stroke of luck switching bolts around. ;)

Anyone ever try the 22lr Blazers? They shoot good? Price seems good and the ballistics are simular to the CCI mini-mags.

Yes. Kinda dirty but not more than some of the dud-o-matics Remington sells now, and in a brick IME there are very little...if any...misfires.

Good stuff.

I like the Blazers too. Good all around inexpensive plinking round, never had a problem with them. I have a few bricks around most of the time. They cycle the action as well as MiniMags, just not as accurate.
