My 2008 39A functioned perfectly out of the box. It shoots just as well as my '47, the only limiting factor being me.
With the exception of a broken extractor, (which was probably my fault because I tweaked it) the rifle has been trouble free. I have done some fluff and buff work to smooth the action, and some mild stoning to get a great trigger. I'll do the rebounding hammer mod to the mainspring guide this weekend to get a real half-cock and increase strike power. None of these things are required for a great rifle, just things I like to tune. I got a good one, but remember...you'll hear about the bad ones-the good ones pretty much aren't brought up because they don't need to be.
