I have only heard about these matches and have never actually seen one in my area. How do I go about finding out if there are any close to me? I am in the Slidell, Louisiana area. I tried to look on the NRA site but could not find anything.

I've never been there, or heard from anyone that has, but the shooting ranges website shows "The Shooters Club" in Metairie to hold Pistol Silhouette matches.... I don't know if it's NRA Hunter Pistol silhouette, IHMSA silhouette, or something else, but typically clubs that have NRA Hunter Pistol Silhouette will also hold a Lever Action match concurrently (since the course of fire is identical).

Might look up the Winnsboro La Gun club home of the Southern Nationals. It's regular smallbore but they run one of the largest regional matches around and know as much about Silhouette as anybody.

As a matter of fact the Bayou Bounty Hunters have the Fisher House Charity Shoot this Sat/Sun at the skeet range outside Amite. Go to the BBH website for info and directions. Most of the folks participating are from the northshore. (I'm in Covington.)
