Yesterday my friend and I where ammo shopping for todays hike."leave in a couple of hours" YEAH!!! anyway's we where at big 5 looking for ammo. I didnt find what i wanted but my friend, having a single shot bolt can fire all the cheap ammo he wants, found some cheap bulk ammo. $19.99 for a box of 525 Blazer .22
On the drive back to the house he was reading the box and noticed it was manufactured by CCI. Well with the jam issues of the model 75 "see glenfield 75 jamming thread" I will only buy higher end ammo and CCI is about my favorite. I have never heard of the "blazer's" before and am wondering, is this their lost cost production ammo? I am going to steal a few of them from him today and see if they can run my semi auto with no issue.

Anything you can buy in bulk could be considered, "low cost production ammo". All ammo is made to a given set of specifications, i.e., pressure levels, etc. The problem with ammo, 22LR in particular, is that some guns are more finicky than others, and may not feed or function properly due to softer bullets, variations in OAL, thicker rims, or whatever. The only way to know if your gun will feed and function normally with a brand or batch of ammo is to try it.

I'm not a huge fan of Blazer ammo, but I've shot enough of it in various calibers to know it works pretty well, and a couple of my 22 rifles really dote on the stuff. When I tested the Blazer Brass ammo in 40 S&W, it showed a standard deviation of FIVE fps. Hard to beat that kind of consistency! 8)

CCI Blazer .22 ammo is pretty good and consistent in all my .22s, if a bit dirty.

Not too many misfires but we did get a couple of squib loads with it.

Never tried any from the bulk packs, but I've had good luck with the Blazer in 50 round boxes. But that is out of a Henry.

I've shot every kind of 22 ammo over the last 36 years I could lay my hands on. Blazer's were just as good as any other. I have NEVER had a single FTF or FTE in my 39A. It's digests anything out there.

BTW, $19.99 is pretty expensive for a 525 bulk pack of 22's. I just bought a 550 pack of Federal's for $14.99.

All I shoot in my M-60 are the copper plated Federals. I've been told that the copper plating boolits are a must in a semi-auto ::)

I've yet to have any misfires.... :)

Until a few years ago i would have agreed with you. But remember, I live in a VERY blue state where ammo control eerr i mean taxes are a favorite of our lady governer. I remember $9.95 for a 525 pack was a good sale price.

I remember my older brother and his friends complaining about $6.50 for a brick of Yellow Jackets...about twice what they were used to paying for a brick.

After the Great Ammo Shortage of 2009, lots of inflated prices never came back down much. A lot of it depends on where you shop or live. Even my local WallyWorld charges close to $20 for bulk ammo these days.........and they sell a lot of it. :p

I live in Washington state

I tried those blazer's. When i first got up there I fired of 6 of them with no issue "clean gun" Then i fired off 200 Mini mags through out the day. Had 3 FTE. Then i Fired off 10 more Blazer's and had 1 FTE. For this model 75 i was pretty happy with that outcome.

The clerk in Wal-Mart told me a couple of weeks ago that they were having a 15% across the board increase on ammo. It just keeps going up and our wonderful administration in Washington is wanting to put another tax on all ammo and guns. They are hoping that they can control gun ownership by getting the price of ammo so high that people can't afford it.

I shoot nothing but low cost Federal "Bulk Ammunition" in my 981TS.

Before I got the 981TS a couple of years ago I used the same Federal Bulk stuff in my old Remington 66.

Hate to think how many thousands of rounds I have fired and I've never had a problem. Seems to be very accurate (both hollow points and solids), and I've never had a 'failure to fire'...

I used to use CCI mini mags excusively, however I was at the range a couple of years ago and another shooter was using some Aguila bullets and was making dime sized holes at 50 yards.. I never heard of them until now and when I went to the local gun shop a couple days later, I saw some sitting on his shelf, so I picked up a few boxes to try. I have 3 22 rifles and all 3 of them love the Aguilas. I now use them exclusively in my rifles. Oh by the way, they are cheaper than the CCI's. They are ely primed and the only drawback is they are made in Mexico. If my guns like 'em, then that's what I'll feed 'em. They are kinda dirty but not as bad as the blazers. Good shooting. Dan

I like the Fed bulk 550 boxes.

With that I would trust the blazers before I would the "Goldens" just my expierience.

I use the Blazers in my 60DLX and never had a problem. I think they are some of the better quality bulk. Around here, I get the 550 box for $15 or the 500 box for the same price. No difference in the ammo from either box as they are the same.
