Congrats!! That's one of the late model laminated hardwood stocks that they only put on shotguns now, they discontinued all the hardwood stocked rifles this year. :(

I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to cover that up either. Nice little thumper there. Nothing says "Welcome" like a 45-70. :)

w.a. congrats on the new shoulder mounted light field artillery. That ought to do about anything you need to do with a rifle. I have one, wood stock, love mine. Take care, John.

Glock I've got lots of ammo for that 45/70
When I had that post about old 30/30 shell prices
Up in the forward magazine by the chain locker
I found 4 boxes of 45/70.
I picked up a box of the hornady lever ammo.
That should be good to get me on a 4 by 8 .
I can't be leave those cheep sobs don't give you a hammer spur off set in the box.

It looks like my 1871 was made in NY.
Over all I have to say they did a good job
They just have to fire the guy that installs the
Sling studs in the stock.apparently he's the same
Guy that drives them in the remlins.

Remington moved H&R production from Gardner MA to Ilion NY in late 2008, those made made May 2008 and later will have CAC(SB1) or CBA(SB2) serial number prefixes.
