So here she is, my 1881 in 45-70. Refinished by the gunsmith school before they got smart...
Built in 1983 I'm told by a websight that seems to know what it's saying. IMG_1062.JPG
Originally she was a 40-60, I'm sure the barrel got eaten alive and it was bored and re-rifled.
She eats 366 grain cast boolits in front of 30 grains of 4759 and does a couple inches at 100 yards.
We're getting a new Ballard vernier tang sight tomorrow...

very nice rifle! Is the built date actually 1883, not 1983?

Beautiful! I so wish my eyes would cooperate with a tang sight.... It's just the way a lever should be.

Revor, welcome to the forums! Hey, I love that rifle. I know you're excited to own it, too. Now it needs a brother rifle.....to keep it company, you know. Thanks for posting a great picture!

Welcome to Marlin Owners from a little piece of Heaven in Sullivan County, the Gem of the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. That rifle is a beauty! I love the tang sights.
