I have seen info on M and M2, models 60s, etc, but nothing on the model "989G".
Anybody got a link to an owners manual before I tear this thing down?

A "G" suffix was the original designator for the Glenfield line before they actually stamped "Glenfield" on the barrel. Any reference material you have for first generation 989 should be sufficient for any action maintenance. Any difference would be cosmetic. A model 70 or 989M2 manual would do in a pinch.

I think the G just stands for Glenfield. I also think the 989, 989M2 action is the same as the Model 70s. And, stevespages.com would have manuals for both of those, as should gunpartscorp.com (Numrich) have schematics.

Thanks guys! A little more research (and your replies) are leading me in the right direction. This was the first gun my Dad bought in 1963. I want to make sure I take care of it to hand it down to his granddaughter!
