I am looking to get a new .22 rifle. I have a couple marlin lever actions and a couple older "glenfield" model 60's and are very happy with them. I had my mind set on another Marlin but just got back online and logged into the forums after a long absence from internet, and found out they were bought by remington. I just looked at marlin's webpage and was looking at the 925 and 925R and also their XT-22 line...The only difference I seen was the trigger....Is it that big of difference in a .22 rifle... I have also looked at the savage models too...but prefer the Marlin.... or at least did until I heard there was a change in ownership and place of manufacture.... Can anyone tell me what they think about the xt-22's and the 925 model of .22 and how they compare.

Binder, I have a Marlin 925R. Bought it about four years ago. Had my doubts about the cheapo scope that it comes with. Was gonna replace scope. Decided to give it a try. Surprise!! Was I ever pleased how this rifle shoots. As good as any .22 I have ever owned. Very accurate. Mine likes CCI Velocitor ammo the best. A little costly but shoot really well. No misfires. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have no experience with the new XT-22 line, but I love the old Marlin 925's. I bought one, then persuaded my club to buy five more to use as youth training rifles. Super accurate, rugged, simple, I would buy up any Marlin 925 that I see on a dealers shelf.
