Working on getting my grandfathers 81DL up and running again. It is all fine and dandy, other than it won't feed from the tube mag. Appears to be a common problem based on searches here in the forum. Have it fully apart and ready to order replacement parts for it, but not sure if I need the front of the bolt or the carrier or both. It's the "new style" bolt.

Anybody out there with experience with this know which one is more likely to wear down and not let the gun feed from the tube mag?

Not like either is pricey or hard to replace, but I want to keep it as original as possible and do it right the the first time.

Thanks!

I am still hoping that I can just buy parts from Numrich or similar.

Hoping for someone that can help me figure out specs on the cartridge carrier and/or bolt so I can measure her up and get the right part.

Thanks!

It's the carrier that is worn out. I had the same problem with my 81DL. If you remove the carrier from the gun, you will see an aluminum pin that holds it together. On mine, the top of that pin was worn off from the bolt riding on it to push it down. You can't easily remove the pin but I just grabbed it with a pair of pliers and turned it until new metal was on top. I suppose after another 50 years of use I may have problems with it again, but it's working great right now!
