From what I have read it has the same ballistics as the 300Ham'r, 130grn bullet @ 2500fps. Loaded ammo for the 300Ham'r is only available from Wilson Combat but it can be loaded using brass from Starline brass or brass made from .223.

Would it really be any better ballistics wise than the .300 Blackout? It would seem like just another reinvention of the wheel, as are a lot of the "newer" calibers.

Nothing. The AR10 is a great platform utilizing 308-length rounds. But, it is heavy. Hence, all the efforts toward finding a cartridge suitable for the lighter AR15 with more oomph. Any responsible gun owner should have both! :dancing2:

The AR-15 is a short action, limited in what can fitted in it. You can either have a light bullet fast, or a heavy bullet slower. The original 5.56 was designed to put down threats fast at closer ranges where it really matters, some how people feel a need to change that.

Back in 80s a guy I knew got a killer deal on a case of “AK” ammo. He couldn’t get it to work in his AK and brought gun and ammo for me to check out. This ammo wasn’t 7.62 x 39mm. This was steel cased and when I measured it to research what it was it turned out to be a 7.62 x 45mm that Yugoslavia chambered for their rifle in early 50s. Just to stay separate from Soviet Bloc. Still have 50rds of that ammo.

7.62X45 COL is 2.365. Ar mags are limited to 2.275.

The 6.5 grendel is a potent AR15 round. Mine has a 20 inch barrel. i have yet to test it. Too many irons in the fire.

I don't have any magazines to measure, I only own classic type firearms. I am thinking about a AR in m16a2 version for social reasons. The only 223 I own is a #3 Ruger.

I don't know if this is same 7.62x45 discussed. If they wanted to use it in AR they could tweek it easily for OAL cartridge. I'm for 30cal cartridge. I have no experience with new GI 5.56 ammo. I know from personal experience that the 5.56 was poor performer in door to door when most buildings were block construction. The 7.62 NATO would chew holes in it fast. That would have been 155gr/ 2850 fps.
I'm betting they can come up with 30cal cartridge very close to bullet weight and velocity.
