I just got back from the range and am ecstatic !! After worrying that I had a lemon because my 45 70 shot a half meter low (front sight too high) I put a 1.5 - 5 Tasco EXP scope that i had lying around on it and after 4 sighter shots decided to try 5 shots on a clean target ...... result...? 5 shots in the ten ring of a centerfire rifle target at 100m !! 350gr rnfp lead bullets ahead of 44gr AR2207 for 1750fps if my memory serves me right....
then I tried a 6th shot with the scope removed (newly filed front sight) and cut the 10ring half in /half out ! I had to stop before I spoiled the target and am gonna hang it in my bar at home !! I will try to take a photo and may have to use it as my avatar ! 8)

Nice going mate. I also use AR2207 for my lighter projectiles and AR2219 for my loads when I am out trying to kill mountains.

Ain't it great when all goes your way? Well done sir! These Marlins are capable of some super tight shooting. My GG was doing ok with the factory sights, but after a 1.5X-to-4X mil-dot scope installation, my groups shank to one hole at 50 and quarter size at 100 with my pet load.

Again, well done and we will be looking for further range reports!

I use a similar charge of AR2207 behind a 405g Rem for very good results also, sounds like a powder well suited to the 45/70.
Cheers,

Hi guys, yeah AR2207 is exactly the same as H4198.
ADI make it for Hogden and export it to the States and then it is repacked as H4198.
