Or re-chambering/re-barreling to 458 Winchester (62,000 psi) which is well beyond 1895 pressure limits?Anyone thought about cutting one of the BLR barrels down to 18.5" and porting the bbl???? THAT I would be interested in.
That would be interesting!Or re-chambering/re-barreling to 458 Winchester (62,000 psi) which is well beyond 1895 pressure limits?
Got a Leupold 2-7x33mm scope receiver mounted on my BLR and it is right in front of my master eye when I raise the rifle. The feel of the Marlin is 100 times better than the BLR. I would also say the accuracy is as good if not better. My trigger isnt all that bad.
I havent handled a BLR in .450, heck I havent even seen one. I have put a lot of rounds through my father's BLR in 7mm-08, and while fit and finish are nicer, the 1895 just feels like an extension of my arm. The BLR's sure are pretty though!Got a Leupold 2-7x33mm scope receiver mounted on my BLR and it is right in front of my master eye when I raise the rifle.
When I completely disassemble the rifle into 3 parts barrel/forearm + butt stock/receiver + scope and reassemble the POI might change at the most 1/2".
For the kind of game you hunt with a 450 (not varmints:marchmellow1/2" isn't even worth mentioning.
My Guide Gun (a Rehabilitated Remlin) in 45-70 is the same after I practically rebuilt the bloody thing.......cycles & shoots like a dream......it was a rough SOB NIB though.:vollkommenauf:
Spent many hours fitting & polishing and replaced the trigger, ejector & springs.
Cerberus-Remington should hang their heads in shame.
Depends what you're used to & how you got the rifle set up.I havent handled a BLR in .450, heck I havent even seen one. A word of advice for when you do get one in your hands..............HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT !I havent handled a BLR in .450, heck I havent even seen one. Does it recoil more than the Marlin?A word of advice for when you do get one in your hands..............HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT !
That Hornady factory ammo isn't loaded light.
Keep that ocular eyepiece well away from your eye unless you want to wear it as a contact lens.
I missed the boat on a "JM" 1895M......intended to buy one but was too late........the JM 1895Ms in good shape are worth a pretty penny now.Not listed on the online catalog for 2011... Any other news? I still see it on the web sight.
You've actually owned or fired a BLR in .450? I own both an 1895M (2007) and a BLR/.450. I enjoy shooting and hunting with them both. The BLR has a much smoother action, better trigger, much shorter lever throw and is more accurate than my 1895M (which is still a very nice rifle). It's also much easier to load & unload. As already mentioned, as a DG rifle, there is no 2nd safety to mistakenly leave on (my 1895M's safety is now disabled with a rubber grommet). The BLR is slightly longer and listed by the factory as the exact same weight as an 1895M, but feels lighter in hand as well. Love my 1895G & 1895M, but if I could only have one, it would most certainly be the BLR/.450.The feel of the Marlin is 100 times better than the BLR. I would also say the accuracy is as good if not better. My trigger isnt all that bad.
