Unfortunately, the Marlin website has not been updated in quite a while. The "e-catalog" link on there takes you to a 2011 version.
I talked to a rep from marlin a few weeks ago and he said in the next year or so they might be bringing the 450 and 444 back in to production just to keep your eyes peeled on another note theres a gun shop in lansing Michigan with 5 in stock 4 guide series and a mxlr all new in the box
Looks like they are/will be available:Marlin Model 1895M in 450 Marlin

They are not listed in the 2013 hard copy Marlin catalog. It will be interesting to see what Remlin does offer over the next few years and what the quality will be.

I bought a blued Browning BLR Takedown in 450 Marlin last fall.......best big bore purchase I ever made.
It was very smooth cycling with decent trigger pull NIB......considerably better than the stock 1895s used to be.
Had to instal a Wild West Guns "Happy Trigger" in my Guide Gun because the factory 1895G trigger was heavy & gritty with at least 1/8" of creep before it finally broke.
The lever/bolt action of the BLR is much stronger than the rear locking 1895 action........the BLR routinely hosts cartridges like the 7mm Rem Mag in the 65K PSI range.
Bottom line......the BLR is a BETTER gun.
The Browning is $300 more than the standard 1895 but you get what you pay for.
The feel of the Marlin is 100 times better than the BLR. I would also say the accuracy is as good if not better. My trigger isnt all that bad.

Anyone thought about cutting one of the BLR barrels down to 18.5" and porting the bbl???? THAT I would be interested in :).

Or re-chambering/re-barreling to 458 Winchester (62,000 psi) which is well beyond 1895 pressure limits?

That would be interesting!
Okay, now we're talking!! Wonder what that would do to a 7mmREM mag??? Already have a bolt gun in that caliber, bigger is better!!!

Got a Leupold 2-7x33mm scope receiver mounted on my BLR and it is right in front of my master eye when I raise the rifle.
When I completely disassemble the rifle into 3 parts barrel/forearm + butt stock/receiver + scope and reassemble the POI might change at the most 1/2".
For the kind of game you hunt with a 450 (not varmints:marchmellow:) 1/2" isn't even worth mentioning.
My Guide Gun (a Rehabilitated Remlin) in 45-70 is the same after I practically rebuilt the bloody thing.......cycles & shoots like a dream......it was a rough SOB NIB though.:vollkommenauf:
Spent many hours fitting & polishing and replaced the trigger, ejector & springs.
Cerberus-Remington should hang their heads in shame.

I havent handled a BLR in .450, heck I havent even seen one. I have put a lot of rounds through my father's BLR in 7mm-08, and while fit and finish are nicer, the 1895 just feels like an extension of my arm. The BLR's sure are pretty though!

Depends what you're used to & how you got the rifle set up.
Guide Gun 1895G, Guide Gun 1895GS, BLR Takedown 308 Win, BLR Takedown 450 Marlin..........4 beautiful guns I'll never sell or trade.
All 4 guns sport Leupold 2-7x33mm scopes on Warne QD mounts.
Can pop the scope off in seconds and use the iron sights.

A word of advice for when you do get one in your hands..............HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT !
That Hornady factory ammo isn't loaded light.
Keep that ocular eyepiece well away from your eye unless you want to wear it as a contact lens.
Just looked at one today. Marlin 1895 scoped and ported, JM marked. $650.00. After reading all the comments here I am going back for a second look. 1st 2 numbers in serial nu. (00) should be 2000 if I do the math right.
Looks as new or at least very good. What do you guys think?
Thanks for the come back.

I don't think you could go wrong other than any obvious signs of damage. Just from what you've said I'd get it. I haven't seen a 450 ported yet, I bet it's even louder than mine.
The ported 1895M is a wonderful rifle. Do yourself a favor and pick it up if in good shape. Here is a pic of mine.

Does it recoil more than the Marlin?

I missed the boat on a "JM" 1895M......intended to buy one but was too late........the JM 1895Ms in good shape are worth a pretty penny now.
Everybody thought JM Marlin was part of America like Mom & apple pie & would always be around......we figured wrong.:(
There are only 2 factory guns currently made in 450 Marlin .........the Browning BLR (around $1000) and a lawyer doctored Miroku of Japan made Winchester 94 Trails End (around $1400).
Bought a Browning BLR Takedown in 450 Marlin.........no tang safety or rebounding hammer like the Winchester & no cross bolt safety like the latter-day Marlin 1895s.
Great dangerous predator defense gun.........just cock it & shoot it.........breaks apart for convenient transportation.
The Winchester Trails End has an ear drum popping ported barrel.........another thing I don't like.
I'll be keeping my eyes open for a good used "JM" 1895M..........they're scarce as chickens teeth and very expensive if you do luck out and find one.

You've actually owned or fired a BLR in .450? I own both an 1895M (2007) and a BLR/.450. I enjoy shooting and hunting with them both. The BLR has a much smoother action, better trigger, much shorter lever throw and is more accurate than my 1895M (which is still a very nice rifle). It's also much easier to load & unload. As already mentioned, as a DG rifle, there is no 2nd safety to mistakenly leave on (my 1895M's safety is now disabled with a rubber grommet). The BLR is slightly longer and listed by the factory as the exact same weight as an 1895M, but feels lighter in hand as well. Love my 1895G & 1895M, but if I could only have one, it would most certainly be the BLR/.450.
