Just found a old article of some guy in europe cut a 45/70 lever action barrel to about 18 inches. and put a hollad break on it and called the pigonator or something like that. how would this effect the recoil on a lever action (follow up shots) or a ruger no 1 (similar to Gary Reeder gun). I know it would be considered blasphemy. But it's got curious

I know it may be considered blasphemy but I would love to have one done like that. I like weird and out of the ordinary just as much as conventional firearms. I don't think I have met a gun I haven't liked

I don't think there would be all that much recoil reduction.
The higher the pressure, the more effecient a brake is. There just isn't that much pressure in 45-70 loads to enable a brake to be real effecient.
