For an RD bullet, in a Remington case, you can go as high as 50.7g for @ 2023fps.

I'd work up to that, but that is standard safety. Pressure at 50.7g is 42k.

With a Winchester or other case you can go a bit higher due to larger case volume, but again, work up.

thanks- So if I used the same load of 42 grns that I load w/ 405 rem cl it would be a good starting point. I would be happy in the 1600-1700 fps range

I'm saying this WITHOUT checking the books, but it stand to reason that with the 45/70 a load which is OK with the 405gr should not be an overload with the 363gr boolit.

Verify the info with your bookS!

Keep em coming!

Thanks SmokinJoe.

I saved a copy of RD's data a few months back and after reviewing the updated version you posted, I see loads are down a few grains overall and the pressures and velocities are also different.

I will replace my copy with the new one.

Yep, you're right.

Interestingly, my original saved data sheet from RD was correct for 45-70 and believe it or not, the charges are higher.

I've replaced my data sheet yet again and now it's the correct 45-70 info.

The load I posted above comes directly from the RD data sheet for the 45-70.
