I have an old '95 Marlin in 40/82. I am looking for load data for it but
very little info is available for it. I do have cast bullets from a guy who
custom casts bullets for others. It is a 280 gr GC sized to 408 dia. Thanks!

There's actually a fair amount of 40-82 data around (actually too much to conveniently type here) - but you might take a look in Handloaders #84, 96 an 200, likewise in Shooting Times of aug'94 and sept'96. [if we can't chase them down, then email me and I'll (re)type the loads for you.]

ps. I'm seriously envious of your '95 (a rare chambering)

Gents,
I've had the good fortune to fire an 1895 in 40-65,,,,,, and I'm workin' on the owner should he ever wanna' part with it.
It appears that the bore in the 40-82 might be suitable for 41Mag moulds???
Cheers,

Just watch out for the .403" and .406" 40-82's; but for the .408's the 41 mag cast bullets could make worthwhile plinking rounds/loads.

ps. we just went down a similar path in seeing if .431 lead could be reliably used in lightly loaded .427" 44-40's... and concluded that .429 was the correct answer.
