This might not be the place to ask if not sorry. I was talkin to a guy the other day about a marlin he's looking at, he says it a newer cross-bolt safty, no sights, no model #, barrel stamped 40-65 win. I'm thinking its rebarreled but, thought I'd check with you guys and see if marlin came out with something like this.

I would think that if Marlin produced the barrel, it would be marked with the model number and the warning. Plus, it would be drilled and tapped for a front sight ramp and dovetailed for a rear sight. If, perchance, it was a re-lined 45-70 barrel, it would have all the markings of the Model 1895SS. There may be someone out there that can shed some more light on the matter. Good luck!

Yep, rebarreled. There are some folks who are having them relined to 40-65. Parley
