SPF-39M octagon

I bought this a few weeks ago, not really knowing what it was. I'm more of a shooter than a collector, and after doing some research on this model, I realized I won't be shooting this one, so it will just sit in the safe. Thought someone on the Marlin forum might like a shot at it before I send it over to an auction site. $1,450 shipped, FFL to FFL. Thanks for looking.

Maybe you should tell us something about the rifle like the year and model and whatever else you know that makes it worth $1,450. I don't think that would make me pay anywhere close to that for it but if there is a chance someone would it could help. Give at least the year that looks to be 1973 and the barrel readings.

1973 is the only year these were made. Barrel marking images are above. Anyone looking for one of these knows what they are and what they bring.

If you do a search on this forum, you will find plenty of info re:value of this particular model, including information on past sales.

My main reason for posting here first, was to give a Marlin forum member a shot at this first, if there was someone here looking for one.

Since it's already posted on another site, it's now contraband here. Thread closed.

Reading the RULES isn't just a suggestion.

My misunderstanding............I thought the GB auction was for the same rifle. Thread re-opened with my apologies.

I have wanted one of these sooooooooooo bad, for sooooooooooooooooooo long!(sorry for acting like a giddy school kid) At $1450.00 though??? My wife would castrate me. My gun fund stash is flush right now. Tempting as it is, I will pass. Reasons. First, I'm bumping 77. Second, I bought a minty 336 Octagon a few years ago, and I have never shot it. Same for a late fifties Texan and a half dozen other rifles that I bought just because I liked them. Perhaps there is something to "need." My comments will give the seller a free bump.
