Was at my local range testing a 1911 trigger job Wednesday and decided to stop at the used gun counter on the way out. Hanging on the wall was this 39a in great condition. Couldn't fight off the "marlinitis" for but a minute or two and it's now in my safe. I wasn't actively looking for one but thought I knew enough to realize it was priced below market ($350) and was ecstatic after researching what I had bought. It's a 1955 manufactured 20" barrel Mountie. In the photo below the angle is not right but the gap between the barrel and magazine tube increases toward the muzzle, is this normal? (I've see similar gaps in other 39a photos) That's about the only issue along with the magazine tube band needing a little blueing touch up. Now I'm going to put more effort to find a "matching" 336 35rem...

Congratulations, I have the exact same rifle and year. Love mine.
My magazine tube is also like yours, never noticed it until you asked about it, so it must be norm.
