Been playing with Quickload and am loving it. What I need to know is if you were using the 375 to hunt smallish Southern whitetail deer what knid of velocity would you be looking for in a medium type hunting load? The boolit will be a 235gr Ranch Dog and all shots will be less than 50 yards. I want something that a 12 year old boy could handle without developing a twitch. If I have a starting velocity I can have Quickload list suitable powders and their loads.

I would think that 1500 FPS or so would give plenty of smack for the conditions you describe and not beat the 12 year old up.

Anything in the 1200 to 1400 fps range should be soft enough for a 12 year old. I got my first deer at that age with a 12 guage and buckshot.

Yep, 1200-1500 should do well with that bullet at that range.

I am loving Quickload. Now that I have an idea of the velocity I want to get, Quickload gives me a list of the different powders and the approximate load. Outstanding!
