I have been fond of the 35 Remington and am considering getting one for my son who is nearing the hunting age.
I have a 338 ME that I use for black bear hunting. The more I think, the more I think I should buy another 338 ME and load up some reduced (2000 FPS) loads which would equal the 35 Rem.
When he gets older, the up the velocity and the rifle can grow with him.
Seem reasonable?

I'm a 35 Remington aficionado, but I agree wholeheartedly. The 338 ME is what the 35 Remington aspires to be. It would be easy to download it to say 2000 - 2100 fps and the recoil should be quite mild. If the LVR powder works as it's supposed to, then as he matures, you load it back up to the 2500 fps range.

I really wish Remington would look at chambering the 7600 pump in 338 ME. If they did, I'd certainly own one.

Does sound like a very good plan. Really have a soft spot for the 35, but the 338 is sweet! One of the new "better ideas" that really IS a better idea. DP
