Are the threads the same? I'd like to put a .38-55 Bbl on my 1895CB and have it rechambered to 38-56 Improved. Anyone know if the threads are identical or not?

I would like to know the answer to the same question for the same reason.

Are you sure you want to do that to the 1895CB you have? You might want to get a common 336 and have Marlin do a Cowboy Conversion ($285) on it and then have it re-chambered. It might be a cheaper proposition in the long run.

According to Marlin, the receivers on a Model 336 and an 1895 are the same. Same unit, differant part number. Threads would also be the same.

Hope this helps, djh

Hello Masteriflerman.......The .30/30,.38/55 cartridge bases are much smaller than the .45/70,.38/56 bases. Ejection port, loading port, bolt face, and more are sized for the larger cartridge. (won't work) Take Care
